Peace o’ Boston

This past weekend I visited a relatively new vegan pizza restaurant in Allston, Massachusetts that is getting a lot of hype around Boston: Peace o’ Pie Gourmet Vegan Pizza. Located at 487 Cambridge Street, this restaurant is highly visible and accessible to Boston University, Boston College students and locals alike.

After checking out their website, I was happy to see that they deliver. But I decided to go into the store to get the full peace o’ atmosphere. This restaurant boasts an entirely vegan menu as well as other products for purchase (vegan cheese, marshmallows, and a variety of desserts to-go). On the chalk board, they have a Slice of the Day and a Pie of the Day with pretty unique combinations.

Their menu includes specialty pizzas and calzones, with the option to customize either of them with a variety of toppings. They also offer breadsticks and salads to go along with them. Crust options for pizza include Organic whole wheat pizza and gluten-free pizzas on Thursdays. I chose to get the “The Not-So-Secret Garden” specialty pizza with whole wheat crust. Toppings included green bell peppers, onions, tomatoes, spinach and mushrooms. The Daiya cheese actually tastes like cheese and it melts! This vegan and healthy version of pizza was absolutely delicious (see picture below).

Check out their website at: This area in Boston seems to be a popular vegan location. Right next door is the Grasshopper, a vegan restaurant serving Asian fare. I’m happy to see specialty vegan restaurants popping up in various cities. Vegan pizza places, vegetarian/vegan Asian food places, and vegan bakeries seem to be more and more popular these days.
